Our Story - The Heart Behind Kidora
Built by UK Parents, for UK Parents
Kidora began with something many parents across the United Kingdom know all too well - piles of outgrown baby clothes, unused toys, tiny shoes, and children's items that were barely worn before being outgrown.
When our daughter Sofia was born in 2022, our home quickly filled with baby clothes, accessories, blankets, toys, and essentials. Some were gifts from family and friends, while others were carefully chosen during the excitement of preparing for parenthood.
But children grow fast.
Before long, we had boxes filled with baby and kids clothes Sofia no longer needed - many of them in excellent condition and some never even worn.
Like many UK parents, I turned to large online marketplaces and Facebook groups hoping to sell preloved baby items and clear space at home. Instead, I found endless messaging, missed collections, unreliable buyers, cluttered listings, and marketplaces that simply weren't designed for families.
At the same time, the cost of living across the UK continued to rise, making it harder for parents to constantly buy brand-new clothes, toys, and essentials that children quickly outgrow.
That was the moment the idea for Kidora was born.
A UK Marketplace Designed Specifically for Families
I wanted to create a simpler, safer, and more trusted way for parents across the United Kingdom to buy and sell preloved baby & kids items.
Together with my partner Martin and close friend John, we began building Kidora - a UK-only marketplace app designed exclusively for parents and families.
Unlike general marketplaces filled with unrelated items, Kidora focuses entirely on baby and kids items, including:
- Preloved baby clothes
- Kids clothes
- Toys and books
- Pushchairs and accessories
- Baby essentials
- Handmade children's products
- Secondhand baby & kids accessories
Our goal was simple:
To make buying and selling preloved baby & kids items in the UK feel easy, safe, and family-focused.
Why Preloved Matters
Every year, millions of children's clothes and toys are thrown away across the United Kingdom, with reports estimating that over 216 million items of children's clothing end up in landfill annually in the UK.
Many of these items are still in excellent condition.
We believe preloved and secondhand shopping should be normal, accessible, and celebrated - not only because it helps families save money, but because it also helps reduce waste and gives children's items a second life.
Kidora was created to support a more sustainable future for families by encouraging parents to reuse, recycle, and pass on quality baby and kids items instead of sending them to landfill.
Every item reused is:
- less waste
- less unnecessary spending
- and one more item helping another family
More Than Just a Marketplace
Kidora is more than a marketplace app.
It's a growing community of UK parents helping other parents.
- Every listing has a story behind it.
- Every purchase supports another family.
- Every sale helps declutter a home while making children's essentials more affordable for someone else.
As parents ourselves, we've built Kidora with trust, simplicity, and community at its heart.
Whether you're buying secondhand baby clothes, selling outgrown toys, finding affordable kids essentials, or simply trying to reduce waste, Kidora is designed to make the process easier for families across the UK.
Built With Love in Chester, United Kingdom
Kidora was founded in Chester by Karolina Gudes, alongside Martin and John, with one clear mission:
To create the UK's trusted marketplace for buying and selling preloved baby & kids items.
Today, Kidora continues to grow across the United Kingdom as more families discover a simpler way to shop, save money, reduce waste, and give children's items a second story.
Because childhood moves fast - but great quality items can still be loved again.
