PayPal Setup Guide
Why do I need to connect to PayPal to sell my items?
PayPal is used to handle payments and payouts because it offers a secure, reliable, and fully compliant way to manage transactions between users.
With PayPal, sellers can receive fast, direct payouts to their bank accounts, while buyers enjoy a seamless and trustworthy checkout experience.
It simplifies the complex regulatory requirements around money movement, tax reporting, and identity verification, allowing us to focus on providing a safe and supportive marketplace for families.
By integrating PayPal, we ensure all financial transactions are handled transparently and professionally, building trust between users.
How to Set Up PayPal
Step 1
Navigate to Profile > My Marketplace.
Step 2
Then navigate to Payments.
Step 3
Enter the email address of an existing PayPal Business account or an email address to create a new one.
If you already have a personal PayPal account, we recommend creating a separate business account using a different email address. Converting a personal account to a business account will remove features such as Friends and Family transfers.
Click Connect with PayPal to start the signup process.
Step 4
Confirm the correct email address is shown and select United Kingdom as the country, then click Next.
Step 5 – Create a business account
Enter your first name, last name, password, and phone number.
Step 6
Read and accept the terms and conditions, then click Agree and Create Account.
Step 7 – You’re all set
Your PayPal Business account has now been created.
Step 8 – Let’s get you set up
Most people on Kidora are parents selling pre-loved children’s items. You are not setting yourself up as a business.
Select your Business type as Individual. This tells PayPal you are an individual, not a business.
Click Continue.
Step 9 – Share some details about yourself
Enter your date of birth, nationality, and home address, then click Continue.
Step 10 – Tell us more about your business
Enter your business name (most people should select Just use your full legal name for now).
Select Business industry as Children’s and Infants’ Wear Stores, and choose your estimated monthly sales.
Step 11
Select No for selling on a business website, choose To receive payments as the purpose, and use your residential address.
Step 12
Enter your name in the info for your customers field, then click Continue.
Step 13 – Add supporting info
If additional information is required, click Add info and complete the requested details.
Link a bank account or card to enable payouts, then submit to complete onboarding.
Step 14
Once completed, you should return to My Marketplace > Payments. When your PayPal account is successfully connected, you will see your Merchant ID.
You can now list items and start selling. Thank you for being part of the Kidora community.
